Contrast this with the more humble abode of Woolsthorpe Manor, the birthplace of the eminent scientist and mathematician, Sir Isaac Newton. Learn about his fascinating life when viewing the room in which he was born and the room in which he conducted many of his important experiments.

Day 1: Arrival at your homestay destination (p.m.)

Day 2: Historic Stamford (a.m)
Stamford is renowned as the finest stone built town in England. Relax in the quaint old sector of this town. Shop for antiques and relax as well as enjoying the buzz of shopping in the modern part of town.

Burghley House (p.m.)
Visit this splendid Elizabethan stately home crammed full of antique artefacts. Admire the painted scenes that adorn the walls and ceilings in many of the rooms. Burghley House has been a location for period films such as Elizabeth, The Da Vinci Code and Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

Day 3: Relaxation time and shopping (a.m))
Relax in the peaceful garden, home, village or surrounding countryside.

Woolsthorpe Manor (p.m.)
Visit the birthplace of the great scientist Sir Isaac Newton and see the tree that the world famous apple originated from. Explore the exciting Science Centre which demonstrates many of his fascinating theories.

Day 4: Nottingham (All day)
Visit the city famed for the legend of Robin Hood. Enjoy visiting the site of Nottingham Castle. Have lunch at the oldest pub in England dating back to 1189.Shop for the world renowned Nottingham lace, enjoy the Cath Kidston shop and visit the impressive Paul Smith's shop. The popular fashion designer Sir Paul Smith was born in Nottingham.

Day 5: Relaxation time and shopping (a.m))
Relax in the peaceful garden, home, village or surrounding countryside.

Belton House and Garden (p.m.)
Visit Belton House, one of the finest 17th century country houses in England and over the centuries a favourite of many of England's Royal Family. Inside Belton House is a stunning array of decoration, paintings and furniture.

Day 6: Chatsworth House and Garden (All day)
Visit the spectacular Chatsworth House, known as the 'Palace of the Peak.' Chatsworth is a stately home with immense beauty and has one of Europe's leading art collections. It is a popular location for filming period dramas and feature films.

Enjoy the magnificent garden which has been designed over the centuries by Britain's leading garden designers and is a wonderful example of an English landscape garden designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. A visit to the gift shops is a good opportunity to buy high quality presents.
