Relax and learn about the fascinating history of tea and why experiences such as Afternoon Tea are so quintessentially English, in a comfortable English countryside home. Enjoy tasting a variety of delicious teas and homemade cakes with Patricia and Russ.

During Patricia's time in Japan in the 1990's, she taught about English Afternoon Tea. Both Russ and Patricia appeared on NHK, discussing the importance of tea drinking for relaxation and have continued to do this with their home stay guests back in England, ever since.

Delicious homemade Earl Grey teabread

Learn how to bake delicious Earl Grey tea bread and enjoy baking this for your family and friends on your return home. Choose vintage, contemporary teaware or the Limited Edition Earl Grey Tea set to create your preferred style of tea time display, for your photographs during this special experience.

Enjoy the excitement of the ultimate tea lovers experience, Afternoon Tea at the world famous Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms in York (as cameoed in Downton Abbey.) You can also relax over this delicious delight in the beautiful Art Deco Belmont Room whilst listening to live piano music, if your homestay includes a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Visit the impressive York Minster

Shop for pretty tea items such as tea spoons, tea pots, tea cups and linen at Stonegate Antiques Centre and of course visit the world famous York Minster, during your unforgettable day in historic York.

4 Day Example Schedule:

Day 1: Arrival at your homestay destination. (p.m.)

Day 2: Tea lesson (a.m.)
Learn about the history of tea and English tea traditions. Look at and explore the different styles of teaware, crockery and linen used in England past and present. Enjoy tasting a variety of delicious teas.

The Earl Grey Experience (p.m.)
Learn how to make Earl Grey tea bread, an excellent companion to the Earl Grey tea you will enjoy drinking from the Limited Edition Earl Grey tea set.

Day 3: York & Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms (All day)
Experience a day in historic York. Relax over Afternoon Tea, in the world famous Bettys of York, to the accompaniment of live piano music in the Art Deco Belmont Room. Enjoy window shopping or buying tea souvenirs in the interesting Stonegate Antique Centre.
(Your stay must include a full day on a Fri, Sat or Sun to enjoy the live piano music with your afternoon tea)
A visit to the breathtaking York Minster and a walk in the old sector of this beautiful city completes an unforgettable and very English day out.
