Winter Wonderland!

February is the time to see the splendid displays of snowdrops and winter aconites that carpet the ground in many gardens. We are blessed where we live, with two gardens, no more than 10 minutes away, that open especially for snowdrops. One is called Easton Walled Gardens, which is being renovated by following old garden plans, after having been overgrown for many years. The second is Little Ponton Hall, the home of Lady Sarah McCorquodale, sister of the late Princess Diana. This beautiful winter garden is open for charity during one weekend in February.

Why not make a visit to us to see snowdrops and beautiful winter gardens in February or March 2014. Check with us later in the year for the opening dates of Little Ponton Hall’s snowdrop opening.

Gardens do not have to be full of roses and masses of flowers. Simple snowdrops and aconites create their own ‘Winter Wonderland’.

A New Prince!

Congratulations to Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of George, Alexander, Louis. He will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.

People in Britain are very excited about the new birth. Thank you for all the wonderful congratulations messages sent to us by our friends and past guests.
The birth of Prince George has put Britain in the world news again, so why not come along and homestay with us in England in 2014? Stay in the tranquility of the English countryside and take the short train journey into London to visit Kensington Palace, the home of William, Kate and baby George. Take a look inside their beautiful home and grounds. Combine this with an unforgettable visit to Buckingham Palace…the home of Prince George’s proud Great Grandmother!

Chelsea Flower Show Magic!

I was very fortunate to take two groups to visit the historic 100th anniversary of the Chelsea Flower Show this May. The visits didn’t disappoint and the standard was as high as ever. The weather turned out to be fine for the Show and we managed to look around at leisure as well as sampling the delights of the Champagne and Pimms stands!

It was the first time that I had visited the Show on the last day and experienced the four o’clock sell-off. It was amazing to see people carrying crazy items of all shapes and sizes home. All part of their memory of Chelsea.

Due to the popularity of the tours we will be running two more Chelsea Flower Show tours in 2014. These tours will involve a visit to the Show as well as visits to public and private gardens in the Cotswolds and around our home in Skillington. As these tours are very personal please register your interest by sending us an e-mail by the following link. Chelsea May 2014.
