A settlement in Skillington is thought to have been in place since Anglo Saxon times. Today however Skillington is a pretty countryside village that utilises the delightful colour of Cotswold Stone in its buildings. It is a perfect place to get away from it all with country walks on the doorstep but within easy reach of a number of lively cities, historic towns and many tourist attractions.

Due to the positioning of the village it does not have the appearance of the stereotypical flat Lincolnshire landscape. From our home enjoy the view of green fields and gentle rolling hills. Skillington lies on the borders of Lincolnshire and Leicestershire as well as being in close proximity to Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and the Rutland countryside.

Skillington has a population of about 300 with the majority of the houses being built of local stone. It has an Anglican Church and a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel. In the centre of the village are the two village greens with places to sit and enjoy the scenery. The pretty local pub called The Cross Swords Inn is also located there. There is a Peace Garden in the village which was made and maintained by one of the villagers. This is available to be seen by appointment.
